MissionaryRescue

Missionaries around the world have left the safety and comfort of home, loved ones, and supporting churches to take the good news of Jesus to those who have never heard of Him. Answering Jesus’ call to make disciples, they welcome the challenges of living cross-culturally, learning foreign languages, and adapting to new customs for the sake of the gospel…And where missionaries go, their families follow. Often missionary kids face deprivation and hardship resulting from their parents’ gospel work.  At times this work puts missionaries and their families in grave danger—when they face political unrest, hostility, violence, and persecution.

Save a Life – Save the World is a nonprofit Christian outreach organization whose purpose is to bring the hope of the gospel to our broken world one life at a time.  As followers of Christ, we are the hands and feet of Jesus. When we feed the hungry, clothe the poor, minister to the sick, and help those in danger, we bring the healing and wholeness of the Kingdom of God to those who need it most. Jesus said to his followers, “Whatever you have done for the least of these, you have done for me.”

At Save a Life – Save the World, our love for Christ drives our compassion for those in need.

In 2023, MissionaryRescue aims to rescue gospel workers facing extreme persecution because of their faith in Jesus.  MissionaryRescue will partner with rescue organizations to evacuate a minimum of fifty-two (52) persecuted missionary families, provide Spiritual healing and arrange redeployment to less hostile locations. With your donation to sponsor a missionary family, we will provide evacuation support and conduct awareness campaigns and advocacy in partnership with other missionary support organizations.

MissionaryRescue is currently developing the necessary infrastructure, staffing, and advocacy to evacuate missionaries and their families living amidst severe persecution, hostility and threat.

By The Numbers

The Open Doors, USA World Watch List is an annual report on the global persecution of Christians that ranks the top 50 countries where Christians are persecuted for their faith. Released at the beginning of each year, the list uses data from Open Doors field workers and external experts to quantify and analyze persecution worldwide.

The Persecuted Church

In Open Doors’ World Watch List top 50 alone, 312 million Christians face very high or extreme levels.

  • 1 in 7 Christians are persecuted worldwide
  • 1 in 5 Christians are persecuted in Africa
  • 2 in 5 Christians are persecuted in Asia
  • 5,898 Christians murdered
  • 5,110 Churches attacked
  • 6,175 Christians detained

According to Open Doors, USA Watchlist, in just the last year, there have been:

  • Over 360 million Christians living in places where they experience high levels of persecution and discrimination
  • 5,898 Christians killed for their faith
  • 5,110 churches and other Christian buildings attacked
  • 6,175 believers detained without trial, arrested, sentenced or imprisoned
  • 3,829 Christians abducted

The 2022 Persecuted Christians World Watch List provides examples of Christian persecution:

  • A woman in India watches as her sister is dragged off by Hindu nationalists. She doesn’t know if her sister is alive or dead.
  • A man in a North Korean prison camp is shaken awake after being beaten unconscious; the beatings begin again.
  • A woman in Nigeria runs for her life. She has escaped from Boko Haram, which kidnapped her. She is pregnant, and when she returns home, her community will reject her and her baby.
  • A pastor in Afghanistan gets a text message, letting him know the Taliban knows he is a Christian—and they’re coming for him.

These people don’t live in the same country or continent. But they share an important characteristic: They are all Christians, and they suffer because of their faith. While Christian persecution takes many forms, it is defined as any hostility experienced as a result of identification with Jesus Christ. From Sudan to Afghanistan, from Nigeria to North Korea, from Colombia to India, followers of Christianity are targeted for their faith. They are attacked. They are discriminated against at work and at school. They risk sexual violence, torture, arrest and much more.

Without your help, missionaries will remain in life-threatening situations. When you Give, Pray or Participate - you are directly impacting the safety and security of those who have risked their life for the gospel.
